PNP on full alert for Asean Summit – Bato



PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said the 160,000-strong police force was fully prepared for the international event, which US President Donald Trump and other state leaders are expected to attend.

In a press conference at Camp Crame, Dela Rosa assured the public that the police had not monitored any threat on the Asean.

The entire Philippine National Police (PNP) is on full alert for the country’s hosting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) summit and related meetings from Nov. 11 to 15.

Dela Rosa also advised the public not to fall for hoax advisories threatening of bombings in malls.

“Alam n’yo kapag ganitong season may malaking event maraming influence peddlers, magbebenta ng information, mananakot para alam mo na, to maintain their relevance but hoax yan. Makinig lang kayo sa advisory coming from the government security forces,” he said.

“We are prepared. We have not monitored any present and imminent threat towards the hosting of Asean but we are not relaxing,” PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said.

“We will continue to monitor and strictly monitor the security measures that is being planned and implemented one year in the making. All we have to do is ask for the support of the public,” PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said.

The police chief then appealed to the public to avoid areas where there will be a traffic lockdown. These include the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) complex, SMX-Mall of Asia (MOA) block, all in Pasay City.

Manila Philippines: Nakahanda umanong magbitiw sa kaniyang puwesto si Department of Fo­reign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Ca­yetano kapag napatunayang minamaniobra ng sindikato ang appointment slot sa passport. Ipinahayag ito ni Ca­yetano kahapon sa paglulunsad ng 10-year validity ng passport na ginanap sa Office of Consular Affairs ng DFA sa Parañaque City. BIR Slaps Renato Reyes (Bayan) with ₱1.05M Tax Evasion Charges

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Friday filed a ₱1.05 million tax evasion case against Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) Secretary General Renato Reyes Jr., for failing to pay his personal income taxes since 2009. BIR legal counsel Atty. Brigido Loyola said Reyes’ failed to file income tax returns especially last year where he made more than ₱5.7 million from three major rallies, including the 2016 Asean Summit where he reportedly earned ₱2.5 million according to court records. Reyes, a career activist, has denied many times earlier that he is not earning a dime from organizing protests and all of his works are in voluntary basis. But Loyola said Reyes family expenses are more than his wife’s salary – who is physician working in a public hospital. From 2009 to 2014, Reyes reportedly filed tax exemptions despite already making decent amount from different protests. “We cannot exempt an individual who is earming at least ₱1.5 million a year,” Loyola said.
